Few get the chance to design their own home. I can help you if you're one of the lucky ones. Designing a new home is a complicated process of combining a wide range of technical rules and regulations that ensure the structure is safe, the rain is kept out and the heat kept in with providing the living space you're dreaming of within a building that is striking and unique whilst being harmonious with the surrounding area.

This will be your opportunity to state your aims and describe your dreams. Don't be bashful, let your imagination run, draw a sketch or just describe your thoughts. Collect magazines or just photograph other houses you like. I will then be able to assess how we can best work together and set out what needs to be done.

Naturally, I will need to survey the site including any existing buildings. I will take levels generally and assess the location and orientation of neighbouring buildings, trees and shrubs on and near the site. I will survey the highway, including nearby street furniture, and any other relevant feature. I will also need to carry out research of the Council's policies of the time and a Planning history of the site in question.

We would have meetings to discuss elements of design and, of course, again when the drawings and other supporting documents are prepared ready for application.
